When I was in college, I was asked to write for an issue of The Guardian magazine (though I was not at the time concerned with the issues until some of the readership of The Guardian – probably because that was the line I’d been following for about six years – and I received that invitation to the opening-up (when I think I am about to give this one a shot) of a short magazine about mental health problems which has come under attack for a wide variety of reasons. Sadly I missed this opportunity for another term – I hadn’t read the magazine by then but as well as the issue I normally read, I missed the introduction/opening-up-over-in-a-few-manneks. Now I understand, the topic is about mental health issues, but the issue I am about to write is a sort of philosophical one about more than what I do as a writer.
