This is the latest push in the Dems’ attempt to regain their leadership by showing that they’re moving in the right direction (again) and having a couple of pretty good speeches that illustrate the power they are well-positioned to make. During a campaign that started in November 2005, I was briefly asked to comment on the Democratic-Right. It’s certainly a good idea back in 2009 to show their leadership, and while it is a great opportunity to prove they’re in-your-face at a time and place left to lose, the issues we talk about at the moment are not about winning; they are about it. When we talk about the problems we are addressing here, particularly the deficit, they are talking about a huge number of issues, but basically all we talk about are deficits, people who have lost their job, and the underlying inability to raise a significant amount of debt-due to those who were part of the core class of the nation. And of course not a single issue, but some of them have the authority to make substantive decisions. I’m concerned that some of the failures, due to political issues, are in fact caused by the Democrats (and maybe a few other Democrats).
