Hard Truths: Mistakes made, policies, and trends can sometimes teach you how to make the best decisions. Here, I’ll look at some (really good) mistakes by well-meaning or well-mannered or ill-informed and then focus on the real ones. In my second book, I have studied the history of ethics. It is my first book on ethics in the school curriculum. It’s a balanced, but elegant, book about how to play the role of moral authority in ethical decisions. I love the way the concept of normative bias works. One of the first conclusions drawn by a psychologist from the Psychology of the Emotions, in a book for schools which was posted on the author’s Facebook page, is that moral values are often no better than human values. (I tend to find moral values more appealing than similar values that are higher on the order of all other values). When I first read about the origin of ethical values, it actually helped me uncover a deep and profound source for bias.

In his book, Alan Gay referred to George Washington’s “piggybacked morality” as the “moral authority of the first president.” Same thing I do when I read about George Washington’s “law” as an authority that sets up legal systems as moral authority or guiding principles. He refers to it as the premise of a given theory, including normative and moral authority. A few years ago I was walking on the campus of the University of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As you’ll see, both of the stories are fairly broad, and both contain some pretty revealing details regarding how our moral actions were made. Therefore, I will also add more details about some of my first and controversial opinions about the difference in how moral agency works between partners and non-part partners.
